Associated Students hosts the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001 (and Constitution Day), 2 pm, Falcon Square. Booths from first responders, including fire, sheriffs, Red Cross, and the military, at 12 noon. Red, white and blue attire encouraged. Flyer.

9/11 remembrance + Constitution Day event

Campus community invited to memorialize 10th anniversary of national tragedy

WHAT: The Associated Students of Cerritos College will host a 9/11 remembrance event “Celebrate America” on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 2 p.m.
“Celebrate America” will feature bagpipes presentation, patriotic music, readings, and speakers. Community is invited to share memories of the tragedy that occurred ten years ago on September 11, 2001 by submitting a form. Selected comments will be shared at the event. The event also celebrates the anniversary of the United States Constitution and recognizes its importance in our nation’s history.

WHEN: Monday, September 12, 2011 at 2 p.m.

WHERE: Cerritos College Amphitheater (behind Burnight Center Theatre)

Several countries declared independence during the month of September. Discover the mostly unknown economic factors behind the independence of Chile, Mexico, Central America, and the failed revolt in Puerto Rico.

Presentation by Prof. Fernández, History Department and the Sociedad de Profesores Hispanos. Students of all majors and faculty members are welcome. A special invitation goes out to the new student club, the People’s History Association.
